How to Create Content
If, like me, at any point in your
career you were wondering how to create content - look no further.
Here are some tips and websites you
can use to start you off. so enjoy and good luck!
Get to know who
you are writing for
You need to know who you audience is in order to use the right language and set the right mood. You can imagine it would be different to write to audience consisting of 18-25 year-old males and an audience of 55+ women. If you have GA4 you can use the information there to create your buyer persona/s - after having a look I found this link useful.
Make sure you do your research
properly before starting. It's up to you to decide whether that will include
using social media, available trend reports, surveys, etc.
What type of
content will you use to fit your purpose best
I always say video is king and I am a firm believer it brings good results with all age groups. Who doesn't want to watch a short clip than read a text. That is why always consider video as part of your content. You can use video editing options like CapCut, Canva, Adobe Premiere Rush (many more out there as well) and Instagram have a new video processing app called Edits that might work for you.
That said, depending on your content
strategy and goals, you must consider also using social media, blog posts,
possibly podcasts. For a more refined strategy you can also consider using
infographics, e-books, success stories.
Don't get stuck
At one point inspiration abandons all of us. What I can advise is look at trends on social media (Instagram, Pintrest) - even just the colours and shapes might bring the spark back. Also, have a look at what questions customers ask frequently - those are the topics they are currently interested in.
And do not forget to have a content
calendar (this article might help) of some sort that will help you
organize your ideas and topics and keep up with them.
The content
If you have gotten to this point that means you already know your audience and have an idea what it is you want to write about.
The content itself is of utmost importance, but make sure to keep it visually attractive as well - keep the paragraphs short, break up the words with visuals and make sure to give a lot of examples. People love examples, we can relate better to them.
One last thing - it's about SEO. If
you have never heard about it make sure to read about it as it is what will
improve the visibility on search engines (for blogs, for example). If you want
to dig deeper into SEO - have a look at the likes of SemRush, Moz, Screaming
Frog, GA4, etc. (this is a really short list of what you can find out there
when it comes to SEO). I found a list of free SEO tools you might find
interesting - read about it here.
Promote and
Analyze
Now that you have decided on what type of content you are producing and who you are addressing, you need to make it public. You could publish it on your website, social media, video channels. In order to get more people to view it - promote it through newsletters, social media, partners.
After a certain period make sure to
analyze the performance of your content and whether you are achieving your
goals (engagement, views, purchases). Tweak what needs to be tweaked and learn
from your mistakes (because yes, there is always trial and error).
And finally - find your brand's voice and stick to it. Be consistent, so that when people come upon your content they will know who created it.
